Forecast Discussion
Due to our region being in the slight ridging between a big omega block stretching across the United States, conditions are going to be pleasant and warm these next couple days! Clouds began rolling in this morning and will be overcast tonight until midday Friday when they begin dissipating. Dry conditions continue as dewpoints have about a 30ºF difference below the high. Flow and winds are majorly from the south as we finish up this week, bringing in moisture at the 850mb level, which explains our partly cloudy day today! As we begin our weekend, high pressure quickly swoops in and conditions become sunny and continue to be warm with above-seasonal-highs in the low 80s.
The U.S. Drought Monitor has dropped Athens to a D0 Abnormally Dry level. Rain chances are probable next week, but only time will tell!
