Technical Forecast Discussion Meet the Forecaster

Issued: 8am on Thursday, October 7th 2021

Forecast Discussion

A line of showers and thunderstorms has developed this morning and will exit to the north by this afternoon due to the area remaining in a warm sector associated with an upper level low. No severe storms are expected, but a few individual cells could pop up from daytime heating. The upper level low will merge with shortwave energy on Friday, bringing plenty of moisture and allowing for scattered shower and thunderstorm chances. By Saturday, most of the moisture should be fixed to the east of the area as shortwave troughing continues; this will provide a slight chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms, tapering off by Saturday night. Upper level ridging and surface high pressure will begin to take place on Sunday, bringing drier weather to start off the new week. Another shortwave will move in beginning on Tuesday, which could promote daytime showers, but for now, the forecast will remain dry through at least midweek.
