Technical Forecast Discussion

Short-term Forecast (Thursday 09/12/2024 through Saturday 09/14/2024):

Dry air will remain over the region Thursday due to a dry air mass parked over the region. Cloud coverage will begin to increase starting Thursday into Friday as moisture from remnants of Francine begin to progress northward and creep into the area at the upper-levels. As Francine continues to weaken into Thursday evening, any chance for precipitation previously expected for the weekend as a result of her arrival is unlikely due to the lack of forcing that would be necessary. At very least, Francine will increase our cloud coverage and give us a break from the 20-30% relative humidity values seen throughout the week and limit the threat of fire weather previously present.

Long-term Forecast (Sunday 09/15/2024 through Wednesday 09/18/2024):

As Francine continues its progression northward, skies will once again begin to clear following a cloudy end to the week. Some moisture will stick around keeping cloud coverage at the upper-levels possible. Temperatures will stick around the mid to upper 80s.
