Forecast Discussion

Shortwaves moving through are expected to bring daily chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms through Saturday. Upper level ridging will build into the area on Sunday along with high pressure, which will bring drier weather and temperatures above average for this time of year, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. For the long term, ridging will settle over the eastern U.S. and an upper level trough will be placed over the western half of the U.S. Ridging will slowly shift east as the trough pushes into the Great Lakes region and sends a cold front into the area. From this, another shortwave will pass through on Monday, increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms. The better chance for precipitation will be Tuesday afternoon as moisture increases ahead of the approaching cold front and upper level trough. The front should arrive mid week, with showers and thunderstorms likely as it nears the area.
