Forecast Discussion

The National Weather Service in Charleston, WV has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect from September 3, 02:34 AM EDT until September 3, 08:00 PM EDT

Currently, a weak cold front is bringing many showers through our area. Many of these showers are slow moving, so the chance for flooding increases. As the night approaches, the main cold front from a surface low in Canada will move into the Athens region Friday morning. We can expect showers and thunderstorms ahead of this front and cooler temperatures once it passes. For the weekend, fair and pleasant weather is to be expected as a strong high pressure system will influence our area. The next chance for rain comes to the beginning of the work week as guidance is suggesting an active weather pattern will set up for the week.
