An active pattern of showers and storms is expected to kick off today and continue through the end of this week. A cold front positioned over southern Michigan/northern Indiana will sag south and east today. As it encounters the region of very hot and moist air over Ohio (highs will be in the 90s, dewpoints in the upper 60s to near 70), the front will serve as the lifting mechanism to catalyze storm formation this afternoon and evening, a few of which may strong to severe with scattered damaging winds and hail. The front is expected to detach from its parent cyclone tonight, stalling near the region and thus introducing the threat of showers and storms again on Wednesday. Once again, some storms could be strong to severe. By Thursday, a new surface low is expected to form along the front and thus pull the front north as a warm front. Again, storms will be possible with a few even being strong to severe, but the greatest threat will likely be from I-70 north. Friday poses a similar threat to Thursday with the passing of the surface low and warm front to the north. For the fourth straight day, severe weather will be possible, but similar to Thursday, the greatest threat will likely be confined to I-70 and north. Finally, come Saturday, the surface low and the remnants of Tropical Storm Laura will slide past the region, leaving cooler and drier weather behind.
