High-pressure will remain in the area for today with the building of an upper-level ridge and southeasterly flow promoting warm air advection and temperatures to begin climbing. Despite highs in the upper-80s, it will be quite comfortable. However, an upper-level trough will progress eastward beginning Wednesday with an approaching low-pressure system lifting a warm front into the area. This will bring scattered clouds throughout the day with a slight chance of showers and storms closer to the evening. It will be very uncomfortable with dewpoints in the low to mid-70s. The increase in a warm, moist airmass with a nearby cold front, which will stall.

The upper-level low will become closed and cause the upper-level pattern to stall and move slower allowing for a consistent chance for showers and storms Wednesday through Friday. An isolated severe storm is possible Wednesday evening into Thursday morning with the main threats being damaging wind gusts from clusters of storms. A low-pressure from the Plains will become occluded and progress northeast towards the Ohio Valley Friday associated with the closed-low aloft continuing for a wet 4th of July week unfortunately. If you have any 4th of July plans outdoors, make sure to bring the rain gear! A cold front will move through Saturday morning giving rise to high-pressure behind it and drier conditions.
