An upper-level shortwave will move through the Ohio Valley this afternoon bringing showers and thunderstorms to the region. A decent amount of moisture will move northward into the area before the system’s surface cold front makes it through the region late this evening. Showers and thunderstorms will die off shortly after dark, as the daytime heating is lost. The cold front will stall across central West Virginia. Showers and thunderstorms are not expected to be nearly as widespread Wednesday, but localized showers and thunderstorms are possible due to daytime heating even through an upper-level ridge will slowly develop. Another cold front is forecasted to trek across Southeast Ohio on Thursday bringing the chance for thunderstorms. Due to a decent amount of energy and available moisture, these storms can produce heavy rainfall. This cold front will stall to the south, before lifting back north as a warm front on Friday. This will leave much of Southeast Ohio in the warm sector allowing for diurnally driven convection almost every afternoon this weekend.
