Today, high pressure continues to build in the region, making today hot and calm, at a high of 91 degrees. Winds from the southwest will be from 5-10 mph, while sunny skies prevail, with a few clouds arriving in the afternoon. By evening, winds will shift to be from the south-southeast, while dropping to 0-5 mph. More clouds will begin to arrive overnight, becoming partly cloudy. Temperatures will drop to a low of 64 degrees, and pressure will begin to slightly drop.

Thursday, a chance for severe weather returns with some afternoon storms. An upper level trough will advance a cold front eastward into our area, and combined with warm temperatures in the mid 80s, dewpoints near 70 degrees, and sun in the morning hours, decent instability will develop. Additionally, some shear in the environment could be conducive for supercelluar development, making for a small but notable chance for tornadoes. Hail and wind seem to be the greatest threats, and the timing for these storms will be in the late afternoon and early evening, with discrete cells developing more into a line as it pushes eastward into the night. Additionally, rainfall could total to an inch, so be wary of flash flooding around this time as well.

Following this, some scattered thunderstorms are still possible late, but will move out of the area while some clouds still linger overnight. Temperatures will drop to 66 degrees, and winds from the southwest will remain at 5-10 mph. For the rest of the week, another brief high pressure will set in Friday, making for another warm and calm day, but will be interrupted by some rounds of scattered thunderstorms over the weekend brought on by more low pressure.
