Forecast Discussion

Hazardous Weather Outlook

Today we will see slight ridging, as we are between upper-level shortwaves. No rain is expected today, but cloudy skies will persist. Highs are expected to reach the mid-80s. Tomorrow a shortwave will enter the region, bringing a chance for severe weather, as the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk for thunderstorms for the majority of Ohio, including Athens County. Although showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, the main threat will be with the cells along the cold front that will pass during the evening hours. The main threats associated with these storms are wind damage and large hail.

Friday through the weekend is expected to remain dry as we enter a zonal flow pattern. Cloudy skies are expected Friday, however by Sunday skies will be clear. Temperatures will remain in the low-80s throughout this period.
