Forecast Discussion
A low pressure system and associated cold front will move into the area this evening, bringing chances for showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will rise into the 90s during the day, as we are currently in the warm sector of this system which will provide not only hot, but also humid conditions. Given the environment will be hot and humid, conditions may be just right to produce some strong to severe thunderstorms; thus, the SPC has issued a slight risk for severe weather, with the main threats being damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado. The threat for severe weather should dissipate as the sun goes down tonight, but showers and a few rumbles of thunder will continue to linger overnight as the front crosses through.
High pressure and upper ridging will build in after the frontal passage, but conditions will still remain hot and humid, with temperatures forecasted to be in the mid 80s to low 90s for the rest of the week. Precipitation chances look likely to return on Sunday night into Monday, as models are currently showing shortwave energy and possibly a front crossing through.
