The heat is ramping up this week as high pressure dominates our area, and another prolonged heat wave seems unfortunately likely for the next few days. Tonight will see clouds come and go, and this will carry on into Saturday as well. Saturday will be hot, at a high near 94, and relative humidities around 50%. Because of this, some isolated showers and possibly a rumble of thunder are possible. These will be quite difficult to plan for should they develop, as they tend to be somewhat stationary and short-lived. Similar overnight conditions are likely, and Sunday will feel even hotter, with heat index values pushing past 100 degrees. Once again, these random “airmass thunderstorms” are also possible Sunday.

The rest of the early week may also prove to be just as miserable as Monday and Tuesday push the upper 90s with little overnight relief. Monday could possibly experience some more organized thunderstorms in the later afternoon and evening, though this is too uncertain of a scenario to be able to say with confidence. However, relief will come in the form of a large cold front swinging through the area Wednesday, pushing in some more thunderstorms along it. This front will serve to greatly cool down the area by possibly more than 10 degrees once it passes, pulling daytime temperatures back to the mid 80s.
