The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Athens area. This outlook is issued due to the possibility of strong to severe storm systems expected to move through Sunday into Monday, lingering into the afternoon. With these storms, expect hazards such as gusty winds, hail, and heavy rainfall. The Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk for our area regarding thunderstorms during the Sunday to Monday time frame. It is important to stay up to date for any possible changes on the weather as we approach Sunday. Until then, you can expect cloudy conditions for much of the weekend with highs in the 70’s. Saturday will be dry with a hopeful periodic peak of the sunshine. Sunday morning, rain showers are expected to move in during the early morning hours and are not considered to be severe at this time. Moving into next week, skies will clear on Tuesday but clouds and a possibility of a second round of severe weather returns on Wednesday.
