Active weather is impacting the Southeastern Ohio region currently with a strong squall line of storms that brought severe thunderstorm warnings to much of the region. Right now, Athens and surrounding counties are under a Heavy Wind Warning until 3am on Saturday March 4th. As far as precipitation goes, the squall line has advanced out towards the East, leaving behind high flood risk with those heavy downpours. We are NOT in the clear quite yet as wind gusts succeeding this system has reached up to hurricane-strength winds – up to 60 mph gusts are expected. Remain weather aware as this deep low pressure center continues to advance.
Looking into the near future, expect clouds to stick around on Saturday with remaining heavy winds. High pressure is on its way to allow some peaks of sun as soon as Sunday, and temperatures are on the rise! Expect highs to reach the upper 50s to lower 60s in areas across the region. By Monday, expect temperatures to peak in the upper 60s before another low pressure drives into the region to cool us down with its associated cold front and chance for rain overnight into Tuesday.
