Weather observers with a keen eye may have noticed a storm with rotation north of Athens earlier this evening! Thankfully, this storm was not tornadic, and tornadoes are unlikely in our area tonight. A cold front is currently pushing through Ohio, spurring up a few more scattered showers and storms that will push into the area and taper off before midnight. Severe threats remain minimal, though gusty winds and small hail could be possible with a strong storm. The cold front will greatly drop temperatures over the weekend, making for a high near 73 degrees Saturday as clouds decrease throughout the day. Higher pressure will begin to fill in, resulting in calm and clear weather to persist overnight Saturday into Sunday. The narrow but deep trough associated with this temperature plunge will be short lived, however, with the extent of its influence being felt on Sunday, with a high around 75 degrees and clear skies.

By Monday, a small ridge will have formed on the heels of the trough, bumping temperatures back to the low 80s as the daytime high. High pressure will have fully settled in by then, making for continually sunny weather. Temperatures will continue to increase as flow becomes more zonal, reaching the high 80s on Tuesday, and the low 90s on Wednesday. Thankfully, humidity will still remain low, making for a more bearable heat to linger through the new week.
