Forecast Discussion

The NWS in Charleston, West Virginia has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook extending into Tuesday night in response to a severe weather event passing through Ohio. A Flood Watch is in effect from now until Tuesday evening, as heavy rains from the incoming storm may overwhelm local creeks and rivers. In addition to our local alerts, NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) indicates that much of Ohio is at a Moderate (level 4/5) risk for severe thunderstorms from Tuesday afternoon into the evening. This means that our area may be hit with hail, wind gusts of 50 knots or greater, and significant, long-track tornadoes. These conditions will be more likely to affect our area during the evening.

In response to these conditions, Scalia Lab urges you to have a plan in the event of a tornado or flood. Remember to stay tuned to your local radio, TV, or visit the NWS Charleston page for the most recent weather information.

Following the severe weather event, rain showers will persist until Thursday. Temperatures will also feel dramatically colder, with tomorrow’s high of 74 being the warmest of the week. Thursday and Friday will be at a whopping 45 degree high during the day, with lows just below freezing. Thus, precipitation may produce a rain/snow mix Thursday and, potentially, Friday.
