Forecast Discussion

An upper-level ridging pattern will continue to provide warm, moist air out of the south into our region as SE Ohio is in the midst of a heat wave. High pressure out of the east will be in control tonight through Tuesday, helping to keep conditions dry. Mostly sunny skies on Tuesday will allow for highs to reach 90, with dewpoints climbing into the lower 70s by the afternoon. We will remain dry to start the day Wednesday, but an approaching cold front will increase chances for showers and storms by the late afternoon, with storms likely overnight. The frontal boundary will stall out around our region Wednesday night into Thursday, which will keep chances for storms in the forecast. The cold front will finally push through by Thursday night, with any rain expected to diminish by midnight. Athens then looks to remain on dry for Friday, but a developing low in the Central Plains will provide scattered thunderstorms over the weekend.
