This week is starting hot as warm air sweeps through the region, raising the heat index into the 100s. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory through large portions of the Central and Southern U.S., with an Extreme Heat Warning issued more locally through portions of southeast Ohio and through parts of West Virginia. With the rain showers today, humidity levels will be elevated, which will further impact our heat index to make conditions outside feel hotter. Tonight, cloudy skies are expected to continue from the rain earlier, and isolated showers in portions of southern and central Ohio may be seen. Tuesday, we will see the effects of some high pressure to help begin to clear skies for the evening. Throughout the day, temperatures will be in the low 90s with a heat index of up to 106 degrees. Tuesday night will bring some relief with temperatures into the low 70s and partly cloudy skies, but going into Wednesday, conditions will worsen as temperatures are expected to be in the mid-90s. This hot air will be accompanied by some moisture, leaving us with a hot and humid day, with a heat index again into the 100s. Some relief is expected later in the week as rain and some cooler air will move into the area.
