Our first day of dramatic heat has come and gone, but overnight temperatures will still be quite warm, at a low of 69 degrees. This will be a common trend this week, and little overnight heat relief is one of the reasons Athens is currently under a Heat Advisory until this Friday. Tuesday will be more of the same as high pressure continues to build, with temperatures near 94 degrees, with albeit a bit more scattered cloud cover. With such strong instability as a result of temperature and humidity, an isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out throughout the day. Overnight temperatures will still provide little relief, and Wednesday still appears to be hot and humid. Buckle up, because this pattern is not going anywhere for the time being.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday appear to be even more sweltering, with temperatures in the upper 90s, and heat index values past 100 degrees. This dome of high pressure will continue to sit on top of our region, and cloud cover will be less sparse, making for UV Index threats as well. If you must be outside, please take every necessary precaution to ensure your safety. Stay hydrated, try to find air conditioning, and dress light. Hang in there, Athens.
