Forecast Discussion

A mixed bag of weather is in store for us the next few days. Tomorrow will be partly sunny with a comfortable high in the 60s, then we will see a large mid-latitude cyclone move into the area on Wednesday, bringing rain showers throughout the day and cooler temperatures in the evening once the warm sector passes over. Precipitation is predicted to be up to a third of an inch between Wednesday and Thursday, so be careful while driving on low level roads. NWS has issues a Hazardous Weather Outlook that can be accessed here, for moderate risk of severe thunderstorms occurring on Wednesday, as well as strong wind gusts.

As the mid-latitude cyclone passes, there will be a chance of snow on Thursday as the cold air mass behind the warm sector travels over Athens. Once this is through, temperature and weather will become mild and pleasant again.
