Current radar depicts some isolated showers and thunderstorms along the Ohio and West Virgina border moving to the west. Indeed, recent lightning detectors in Athens have seen lightning strikes about 25 miles away. There is a very small possibility that one of these isolated showers/thunderstorms could impact the Athens area before midnight when the precipitation will decay. Otherwise, skies will clear and it will be the last chance for precipitation in a long while. Temperatures tonight will be mild in the mid-50s. Tuesday starts the warming trend with our first glimpse at mid-summer weather. Sunny skies will dominate with temperatures reaching the mid-80s. Luckily, there will be a bit of a breeze to cool things down. Tuesday night will be clear and in the mid-50s once again. Wednesday will once again be sunny with slightly hotter temperatures in the upper 80s.

Skies will continue to be sunny into the extended timeframe with temperatures steadily increasing until we may see the temperatures break 90 F going into the weekend. Most notably, lows will be around 60 F which is quite warm for trying to cool homes back down for comfortable sleeping, so make sure your fans and air conditioners are working!
