A few scattered thunderstorms have already moved through the Athens area tonight. Clouds will persist as the main line of rain from the cold front associated with this low pressure system moves through. Winds will also be quite breezy, with gusts up to 25 mph as the cold front draws closer. Rain accumulations through tonight could total to about a quarter of an inch. Rain will be most likely around midnight, but during the morning into Sunday, a chance of showers still persists. These showers will likely be scattered and sporadic, but not disruptive. Temperatures on Sunday will also be significantly cooler, and cloud cover remains overcast.

Sunday evening will see dropping temperatures, to the point where a few post-frontal scattered flurries are possible after midnight. Accumulations will be unlikely, though a dusting could be possible when you wake up on Monday morning. Monday will see cloudy skies in the morning clear as the day progresses, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon, and clear in the evening. The rest of the week will be quite calm, with temperatures hanging around the 40s to 50s, as very strong high pressure will take hold in our region.
