Forecast Discussion

After a cold frontal passage earlier this afternoon, winds have begun to calm down, along with dropping temperatures, making tonight rather frigid. Clouds will begin to clear out by Sunday afternoon as upper level ridging and surface high pressure begin to build into the area, making way for mostly sunny skies. Clearing skies will lead to another cold night in the teens Sunday night due to radiational cooling. High pressure both aloft and at the surface will keep conditions dry for the start of the new work week, with lows Monday night still remaining below freezing under mostly clear skies. Temperatures will gradually start to warm up beginning Tuesday afternoon, with highs projected to be near 60 ahead of the next system arriving from the west. This system will be comprised of a low pressure system that will bring rain showers to the area Wednesday through the rest of the work week as the cold front associated with the low is expected to stall out.
