Forecast Discussion

A large mid-latitude cyclone will make its way eastward towards Ohio once more later this week. As previously mentioned this morning, a cutoff low will form early Wednesday morning over the Dakotas. This low will slowly crawl over the northern United States before reaching Ohio Thursday morning. This slow-moving system will allow for a stark temperature difference between Sunday and then. By then, not only would this intense trough and cutoff low allow for colder temperatures from Canada to settle in, but a cold front would have moved over Athens at this point.

Because of all of these ingredients coming together, we have the chance to see some snow flurries later this week! These flurries could hit later in the day on Thursday and into Friday morning, however, it is too far out to say for certain. Anything can happen between now and then, so keep an eye out for future forecasts in the meantime!
