Forecast Discussion

Clouds will fill into the area as we head into tonight as a low pressure system off to our west moves over to us. It will be dry most of tonight but as that low pressure system/cold front moves over us tomorrow morning, we could see some rain come through. With the clouds, the low will only get down to around 42 degrees tonight. Tomorrow will be more cloudier than today with it being dry through most of the day, but as we head into the evening hours, the back end of this system will come through with some more rain showers possible. The high will barely get into the 50s tomorrow with the high around 52 degrees. As that cold front moves through, it is expected to get really cold with the low getting down to around 29 degrees and maybe even colder. With some moisture still in the area, any rain will change over to snow and we could see our first snow of the season tomorrow night through Monday. Monday will consist of more cloudy conditions but it will be very cold, the high will only top out around 36 degrees, and we’ll see some snow showers throughout the day. NWS Charleston’s snowfall forecast for the area has us here in Athens possibly getting around an inch of snow through Tuesday.

The snow and cold won’t stick around long as we head into a more dry and milder pattern as we head into the middle of next week. The temperatures will get back up into the 50s and 60s and will stay that way through a good chunk of November, but a more colder pattern is once again looking possible as we head into the end of November and into December.
