A mid-latitude cyclone is slowly making its way over Ohio from The Great Plains. As this system moves eastward, the possibility of rain showers ahead of the cold front associated with it will impact Athens. Tonight, will have the chance for rain early Sunday morning as the warm front from this low moves above southern Ohio bringing warm, moist air from the south. As this cutoff low progresses eastward, prolonged periods of rain and clouds will wash any outdoor plans tomorrow. According to the NWS for Charleston, WV, Athens could receive “between three quarters and one inch” of rain tomorrow because of this cutoff low. These types of lows are slow moving which will allow for rain to persist for most of the day tomorrow. A slight chance for storms could occur Sunday evening as the system moves through Sunday night. By Veteran’s Day, clear skies will make a return with a high in the lower 60s! High-pressure will accompany Ohio for a brief moment Monday and Tuesday, but yet another mid-latitude cyclone will move through late Wednesday into Thursday. This will bring another chance for rain Wednesday night into Thursday.
