Forecast Discussion

Currently, we are under a very weak upper-level trough. There is a shortwave just to our south that will produce some rain and just barely remain out of the region to the SE. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with lows around 60 degrees and NNE winds. Cloud cover will clear slightly to partly cloudy skies Monday through Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the low 80s Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday afternoon/early evening winds will shift to our NNW as a weak cold front approaches with a stronger trough aloft, but will not bring any rain as it passes.

Wednesday high pressure will begin to build into the region and looks to linger through at least Friday. Cloud cover will remain mostly clear with a few clouds here or there as the high pressure builds in. High temperatures will gradually warm from the low to mid-80s as we head into the latter part of the work week.

Currently, tropical storm Idalia is forecasted to strengthen into a hurricane and make landfall in western Florida a little after midnight Wednesday. As of now, models do not suggest any impact of Idalia on our region, but that may easily change in future model runs, so it is important to stay tuned to our future forecasts.
