Technical Forecast Discussion

Short-term Forecast (Sunday 08/04/2024 through Tuesday 08/06/2024):

In a good contrast from our previous week’s forecast, drier conditions are ahead. Surface high pressure and rising heights will provide these drier conditions, clearer skies, and a warming trend. Be aware during your Monday morning commute as there will be some patchy valley fog Sunday night into the morning hours that could be dense in some locations. Otherwise, conditions will clear with mostly sunny skies throughout the week and temperatures rising into the low to mid 90s. Humidity levels will also rise throughout the week so if you are to be outside, make sure to stay hydrated and protect yourself from these hot and humid southeast Ohio days. Even though the forecast appears to be mostly precipitation free, we cannot rule out the chance for an isolated shower or two as a shortwave will move through Monday evening and a stationary boundary will be to our south. Due to remaining moisture and diurnal heating, pop-up storms in the evening are possible but should not be significant.

Long-term Forecast (Wednesday 08/07/2024 through Saturday 08/10/2024):

As hurricane Debby will proceed northward on its track through the continental U.S., there is some uncertainty across models about whether or not our region will be impacted by any of the remnants. As of now, it appears we will not see anything significant as a result and potentially just some increased moisture and maybe a bit of precipitation. Otherwise, we should see a bit of cooling Wednesday into the rest of the week with temperatures dropping into the mid 80s to low 90s.
