Forecast Discussion
Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight with the persistence of the upper-level ridge. Cloud cover will increase on Christmas Day as the deep, cut-off low continues to make its way east. Southerly flow will continue bringing in warm air from the south and allow for the abnormally warm day – peaking in the mid-60s. Fortunately, though, the afternoon will remain dry, as any precipitation that would fall would do so as rain. The cut-off low will begin to bring rain Monday night, as well as increased winds. Showers will continue into Tuesday, with the chance of some showers turning into thunderstorms due to elevated instability.
Temperatures will begin to decrease and eventually return to seasonal averages starting Wednesday with the passage of the cold front. Precipitation chances continue Wednesday and Thursday in the form of rain. Friday, these chances tamper off; mixed-precipitation is expected.
