A low pressure center has advanced out towards the east, which was the source of the precipitation we are currently seeing and will continue to see well into the work week. It’ll be cloudy with sinking motion around the pressure center, and polar air from the north continues to barrel the area. It’ll be an overall bitter and gloomy start to the week – much like what we have seen today. In fact, chances for wintry mix increase with the passage of a weak cold frontal passage and overnight freezing temperatures into Tuesday. Tuesdays low drops to the low teens, making conditions dangerously cold. Every morning this week will be a very bitter start with all of that arctic air, so bundle up heading out the door.

Long term, high pressure builds on Tuesday and starts to dry out the area. Don’t be fooled though – arctic air makes all those sunny skies from the dominating high pressure very deceiving. Temperatures will remain seasonable with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s, but again, those overnight lows will make getting out the door just the slightest bit more unpleasant. Overall, it’s going to be a bitter couple of days with the chance for wintry mix with a weak frontal passage late on Monday and overnight into Tuesday.
