Hazardous Weather Outlook and Severe Thunderstorm Watch (until 12 am)

Scattered storms that may turn severe are expected to occur this evening. The threat for severe weather will end by midnight tonight. Cloud cover will remain throughout the night and temperatures will drop into the mid-60s. As of this post, Athens county remains under a chance of thunderstorms Monday per the Storm Prediction Center. There is a 70% chance for rain from scattered showers. Temperatures will warm up into the low 80s by the afternoon. Tuesday, chances of precipitation dwindle as many look forward to Fourth of July festivities. Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s Tuesday.

High pressure will move into the area Wednesday and stay until Thursday evening, then a low-pressure system will move in bringing a chance for more rain Friday. Throughout this period temperatures will heat up into the upper 80s and low 90s.
