Technical Forecast Discussion

Short Term Forecast (Sunday 5/21/2023 through Thursday 5/25/2023)

Models are showing a very clear and pleasant beginning to the work week with dominant surface high pressure. Unfortunately that does mean we are looking some chilly overnight temperatures because of the lack of cloud cover. We are looking at temperatures dropping into the upper-40s to lower-50s with them dipping to the lowest on Thursday after several days of high pressure. We are looking at mainly zonal flow in the upper part of the atmosphere, with mainly northwesterly to westerly winds. We are looking at a brief cold frontal passage passing to the northern part of Ohio, which we might gather some remnants of, but any chance of rain with this passage is slim to none as convergence aloft with the surface high pressure favors clearing conditions and there is a clear lack of moisture present in the atmosphere at this time. Daytime highs with those clear skies are going to make for a beautiful and generally dry week, so soak in the sun while you can!

Long Term Forecast (Thursday 5/25/2023 through Sunday 5/28/2023)

The end to the work week also looks to be quite beautiful with temperatures peaking in the low-80s and clear skies continuing for most of the viewing area. Surface high pressure remains dominant, making this a beautiful weekend to observe Memorial Day in its entirety. Overnight lows still might dip to be jacket-worthy, but overall, it’ll be a great weekend for getting outside.
