Technical Forecast Discussion
Short-term Forecast (Sunday 11/03/2024 through Tuesday 11/05/2024):
High pressure that has been previously placed over our region is moving east into the Appalachians allowing for warm front to progress in from our west. Cloud coverage will increase and southwesterly flow will build delivering higher dew point temperatures. Winds will be fairly gusty as the pressure gradient strengthens with gusts of up to 20mph Monday night. These winds will allow for the more moist air near the surface to mix with the drier air aloft allowing for relative humidity values to remain fairly low. This will not last long as moisture will slowly build into the region. Monday night into Tuesday, we will be planted in the warm sector of this midlatitude cyclone allowing temperatures Tuesday to reach a near record-breaking high of potentially 80 degrees.
Long-term Forecast (Wednesday 11/06/2024 through Saturday 11/09/2024):
Wednesday will bring the chance for some much needed rain showers as moisture and upper level forcing overlap over our region. Most of these showers will finish by Wednesday afternoon/evening but some could linger into Thursday due to the positioning of the upper level jet slowing the progressing of a cold front through the area. This cold front will drop our daytime high temperatures back to more seasonable conditions before another warming trend occurs due to the ridge anticipated to build into the region.
