A very deep trough will move through tonight which will bring an associated cold front passage along with it. The cold front is expected to pass through between 11:00pm and 1:00am tonight with a chance for some isolated showers and thunderstorms ahead of it. The line of showers and storms will likely dissipate once it reaches Athens with storms becoming more scattered. Gusts up to 20 mph can be expected with the cold front passage with possible higher gusts embedded in the passing storms. On Friday, temperatures will only reach the upper-70s, but a strengthening high-pressure system will quickly increase temperatures into the 90s late in the weekend. This is due to an upper-level ridge that is providing upper-level convergence and sinking motions that will bring pleasant conditions for much of the forecast period.
