Forecast Discussion

Rain will taper off this evening as the system moves east. Cloudy skies will persist overnight with a return to zonal flow aloft during the day on Thursday. This will bring a brief break in the rain but remain mostly cloudy. However, a positively tilted trough will bring rain early afternoon on Friday through Saturday night associated with a low-pressure system. Southeast Ohio will also be located under the left exit region of the jet streak amplifying vertical motion. Furthermore, the NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook due to heavier rain moving Friday night into Saturday night. As of right now, rain amounts can be up to one inch.

The system will surpass Sunday morning as Southeast Ohio enters the right entrance region of the jet streak. This will allow for subsidence causing clearing skies once the cold front passes Saturday night. Temperatures will drop to the mid-40s for highs on Sunday, but climb back up to the mid-50s on Monday as high-pressure builds at the surface and a ridge builds aloft.
