Forecast Discussion

High pressure which has driven much of the region’s weather this week is on the move, sliding east in the next 24-36 hours or so. Meanwhile, a mid-latitude cyclone will push a weak warm front into the region tomorrow evening, aiding in creating southerly flow and providing another surge of warm, moist air. With this increased moisture content in the atmosphere, clouds will begin building in the region tomorrow evening and look to stick around for a while. The next big weather-maker comes in the form of the remnants of Hurricane Delta, which will track up from Louisiana into the central Appalachians on Sunday. Showers and steady rain will likely dominate most of the day Sunday into Sunday night, with accumulations reaching an inch or more in localized areas. A brief reprieve from the rain comes Monday before a cold front pushes through Monday night, followed by clearing from the clouds and rain and a restoration of pleasant conditions for the middle of next week.
