Forecast Discussion

High pressure is building into the region tonight and will continue to dominate through Wednesday. Skies are anticipated to become mostly clear tonight. This clearing, in conjunction with the already frigid temperatures from the arctic air mass overhead, will cause tonight’s low to drop into the low single digits tonight/Wednesday morning. Wind chill estimates will be even lower, with temperatures between -5 to -10 degrees through the morning hours on Wednesday. It will be necessary to bundle up for morning classes on Wednesday. Sunny skies are in store for Wednesday with moderate winds between 10-15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. Thursday, another system will move overhead with the chance for additional snow. Snow will begin to fall in the afternoon and continue throughout the day on Friday. Models suggest between 2-4 inches of snow may fall for Athens County during this period. Skies will clear once again on Saturday and Sunday.
