Forecast Discussion

Some scattered showers and thunderstorms still linger in the evening from earlier today, rounding out yet another day of rain. These storms will taper off by the evening, but clouds will persist overnight with a few breaks here and there. Temperatures will fall to a low of 64 degrees, and pressure will begin to climb overnight as lower pressure exits the region. Some fog will shroud the morning, but will burn off as the sun begins to shine through some of the thicker cover lingering from the night before. The afternoon will see clearing clouds as temperatures reach a high of 84 degrees. Winds from the west-southwest will remain at around 0-5 mph, however, some humidity will still make Wednesday not terribly comfortable. With a weak high pressure still residing in the area, partly cloudy skies will persist overnight. Temperatures will fall to 66 degrees, with winds shifting to be from the south-southeast.

Thursday, a chance for severe weather returns to the area once more. The SPC has most of southeast Ohio in a slight risk for severe storms, highlighting the risks for hail and wind. A mid-level trough will push a cold front through the region in the evening, and rising instability due to temperatures in the 80s and dewpoints in the 70s will allow for thunderstorms to develop along this line. Additionally, some discrete cells, possibly supercelluar due to bulk shear around 30-35 kts, could fire ahead of the cold front, accentuating the risk for large hail and wind gusts. Due to morning cloud cover and the possibility of convection before the arrival of the front, the intensity of the line is still questionable. However, be vigilant in making sure that you are wary of travel and outdoor activities during late Thursday. After these storms pass, however, a few days of calm are to be expected, with temperatures in the mid 80s and mostly sunny conditions to close out the rest of the week.
