Forecast Discussion

We are currently under a big ridge that will continue to last at least over the next several days. Hurricane Francine is expected to make landfall in Louisiana and move northward. However, because of the wind shear (the difference in wind speed and/or direction with altitude) down in the southeastern US, the storm will basically dump all the precipitation in the southeastern part of the US along the Mississippi River Valley and in surrounding states. The closest the rain could get to us is in Kentucky and Indiana (maybe Ohio if we are lucky), but unfortunately, it looks like here in SE Ohio, there won’t really be much of anything. If we do get some rain, it won’t be very much and it certainly won’t relieve us of this historic drought. So, as a result, we will mainly see cloudier skies starting on Thursday and lasting through the weekend. As for the high temperatures over the next several days, it will be around 90 tomorrow (Wednesday), then in the high 80s for Thursday as well as on Sunday, and mid 80s on both Friday and Saturday.
