The National Weather Service has issued a Slight Risk for Thursday, as well as a Hazardous Weather Outlook that includes Athens, OH. This is a level 2 out of 5, and Athens has a 15% chance of damaging thunderstorm winds or wind gusts of 50 knots or higher, and 5% of one inch diameter hail or larger within 25 miles of a point.

For Thursday through Saturday, localized flooding issues are possible with shower and thunderstorm chances lingering into the weekend with disturbances.

This is due to a warm front pushing east and bringing some instability for these severe storms; the main hazards, as stated earlier, will be these damaging winds and hail. The low-pressure system following the warm front will be bringing moist warm air before the cold front trailing bring will bring some cooler air, leaving us with lows in the low mid 40s. After this system moves out, high pressure swoops back in from the west and gives us some pleasant sunny days next week!
