Tonight’s hot day will close to partly cloudy skies overnight. In the morning hours, a round of scattered thunderstorms is possible, a few of which could be severe, as highlighted by the SPC. We are currently under a slight risk of severe weather, for hazards such as small hail and wind gusts, due to this storm system following a linear path. Despite the storms, high pressure still lingers as the ridge remains strong. Thursday will be hot once more, at a high of 96 and heat index values even higher. Despite partly cloudy skies, be sure to minimize prolonged exposure outside, and remain hydrated throughout the day.

Overnight Thursday will see scattered clouds become somewhat thicker in cover later. A chance for thunderstorms returns in the early morning hours, hence the marginal-risk issued by the SPC for small hail and wind gusts once more. These storms, however, will be brief, and threats of severe weather will still be somewhat reduced. Friday will be hot as the ridge dominates the weather patterns once again, with partly cloudy skies persisting. As the weekend progresses, the ridge will gradually weaken into a more zonal pattern of flow once more, returning temperatures to more seasonable highs and lows, while also keeping rain minimized for the next few days.
