Over the next few days, a few small wave troughs are expected to move across Ohio, followed by a slightly bigger and more pronounced trough. These little troughs, combined with the amount of heat and moisture coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, bring some mid-level wind shear and instability. Instability in the atmosphere means that air is more likely to rise, and thus a greater chance of those tall, anvil looking clouds (called Cumulonimbus) to form, which are the clouds that are often associated with thunderstorms. Around Friday night into Saturday morning, the trough moves out and brings with it high pressure, which means sunny skies. Clouds will start to return on Sunday and Monday, and the chance of rain will increase going into mid next week. Generally, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s and going into the low 90s by the beginning of next week.
