More Canadian smoke will plague our area for another night and day bringing air quality pretty low. Remember to keep outdoor activities at a minimum tonight and tomorrow. Tonight, skies will be clear, despite the haze, and temperatures will drop to the mid 50s. Thursday we will see a rise of temperatures into the upper 80s. There’s a slight chance that remnants of a thunderstorm complex will move through the area during the late afternoon hours, but confidence is low and chances are it will dissipate before impacting Athens. Nevertheless, be on alert for rain chances Thursday afternoon and evening. Clouds will slowly increase overnight on Thursday night and temperatures will hover in the mid-60s. Friday looks to have a chance of scattered severe thunderstorms as the Storm Prediction Center has Athens under a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s before any rain cools off the air.
