Beautiful sunny weather is in store for Athens over the next several days as a strong high-pressure system dominates over the eastern U.S. with assistance from weak upper-level ridging. Temperatures are expected to continue to warm back up into possibly the low-70s by Monday with this strong high pressure, but overnight lows will dip close to freezing. This high pressure will stick around until a shortwave trough moves in and begins to push the system off to the east.

This trough is expected to bring a slight chance of showers beginning sometime on Monday to start off the week, and temperatures look to drop slightly before midweek with the passage of another cold front.
