It certainly has been a very warm spring-like day in October here in Athens with temperatures in the upper 70’s, but will see a dry cold front pass through our region very soon to cool things off rather quickly this evening. It will be a clear night with lows in around 43ºF with slight northwesterly winds so feel like temps can be in the upper 30’s tonight. Things continue to remain dry with clear skies expected tomorrow as surface high pressure will directly be above with temps being solid 10 degrees cooler compared to today, highs will be in the upper 60’s. High pressure continue to dominate our area with temps falling down to around 40ºF by Friday morning. High pressure during daytime Friday starts moving eastward and allowing southerly flow to bring our temperatures back in the middle 70’s. Above normal temperatures will continue to dominate Athens this weekend into early next week as our pattern becomes more zonal with highs in the 70’s and lows in upper 50’s. Despite the warmer weather, we will monitor remnants of Delta lifting northward into Athens by late Saturday night into late Sunday night and some heavy rains is likely during this period with near 1 inch accumulation possible.
