Forecast Discussion

It has been a nice day today, but we do have hazy conditions in place for Athens through this evening due to the wildfire smoke from west coast. Hazy conditions will remain in place through overnight hours along with clouds increasing in association with Tropical Storm Sally, but no rainfall is expected as this storm will be well to the south of Athens. Things remain cloudy and hazy during daytime Thursday. By Thursday evening, cold front associated with mid-level trough will approach Athens. I don’t expect any rainfall in Athens with passage of this front due to lack of moisture in atmosphere. This front will bring in cooler weather and push out cloud and haze coverage out of our area. Strong surface high pressure then begins to dominate our area starting late Thursday night and continuing through Monday afternoon, bringing in drier and quieter weather pattern for us.
