Forecast Discussion

Today, there is a chance for severe weather as a shortwave trough progresses through the eastern United States. Currently, there is some morning precipitation around the area, which is expected to taper off by the afternoon. Temperatures will rise to a high of 86 degrees, with cloudy skies dominating the afternoon, despite the chance of some peeks of sunshine. By the evening, a cold front will move eastward, allowing for a line of thunderstorms to progress into southeastern Ohio around a 8-10 pm timeframe. Around this time is when the severe threat is largest, with the chance of wind damage from gusts and a hail threat both present. More can be found on the National Weather Service’s Hazardous Weather Outlook. In case of an emergency, make sure to have some way of keeping updated on the current weather. After the storms, temperatures will fall to a low of 66 degrees, with winds 5-10 mph from the southwest.

Tomorrow, the chance of thunderstorms returns, but not to the severe extent as the day before. Scattered clouds in the morning will allow for temperatures to rise to 82 degrees, slightly cooler due to the passage of the cold front, but still warm enough to promote the development of thunderstorms alongside growing humidity. These storms, which will be relatively scattered, will develop in the early afternoon, and by evening, partly cloudy conditions return as the active patterns of weather finally begin to calm. Temperatures will fall to 65 degrees, and winds will drop to 0-5 mph. As high pressure builds again, the beginning of this week looks to be warm and sunny, a nice break from the wet weekend.
