There has been a massive area of low pressure that has been hanging around in Eastern Canada (specifically in Northern Ontario and Quebec). This has caused some troughing here in the Eastern US, though there hasn’t been any big precipitation that has come with it because we (as in Ohio) are too far south of the low pressure and haven’t experienced any jet streaks. (Definition Note: Jet streaks are localized areas of higher winds in the upper levels of the lower atmosphere, or troposphere. They help to drive severe weather and any instability in the atmosphere and are typically a part of the broader jet stream). This big upper-level low pressure will slowly move out of Ontario and Quebec, though the troughing will still be present for the next several days. This is why we have not been as hot. Starting on Monday, however, a little jet streak will start to form in Kentucky/Tennessee and into the Mid-Atlantic. This little disturbance will bring with it some lighter precipitation (and thunderstorms later in its duration). This will last through Thursday. As for the high temperatures, expect mid to upper 80s through the next several days with the exception of Monday, which will be in the low 80s.
