Forecast Discussion

A weak upper level disturbance is crossing our area right now associated with light rain, but this will probably reach the ground as sprinkles and drizzle at best due to the dry air still in place at the surface. High pressure will hold out for tomorrow as we clear out the clouds from tonight, but it will start to move out tomorrow night as a cold front approaches our area for Veterans Day. We’ll reach up to near 70 before the front crosses Thursday night with rain out ahead of it reaching Athens in the late afternoon hours. Gusty winds will be associated with this system, reaching up to 20mph. Lingering showers could stick around Friday, and we’ll drop into the upper 50s before plunging into the 40s for the weekend. Lows will fall back below freezing during this time, and another system approaching Sunday could bring some snow mixed with rain.
