Technical Forecast Discussion Meet the Forecaster

Issued: 8pm on Wednesday, August 19th 2020

Forecast Discussion

A large scale upper dipping in the jet stream pattern will eventually move eastward over the next few days. A split in the overall jet stream will keep the area relatively calm for the next 24 hours. With a southern branch trough in the jet stream, expect temperatures to be near average over the next few days. As this southern branch begins to move northeastward, a weak surface warm front will lift north into the forecast area Thursday night into Friday morning. This weather maker will produce clouds and showers throughout the day Friday, and even into Saturday. Rain will last through the weekend, until an upper level crest in the jet stream will build in to start next week. This will cause temperatures to rise, and weather to be relatively calm. Highs will likely reach the upper 80s and lower 90s going into next week.
